High-performance DSPs feature low power, small pkg
The TMS320C6654, TMS320C6655 single-core and TMS320C6657 dual-core DSPs combine fixed- and floating-point capabilities with real-time high performance, low power, and smaller form factors. The full-featured dual-core C6657 uses just 3.5 W at 1 GHz, while the C6654 needs less than 2 W at 850 MHz.
The low-profile 21 x 21-mm FC-BGA-packaged ICs have PCI Express Gen II and Serial RapidIO interfaces. The C6657s two 1.25-GHz DSP cores deliver up to 80 GMACS and 40 GFLOPS. The chips have 1 Mbyte of shared L2 SRAM. The DSPs can do a single-precision floating-point FFT, 2,048 pt, Radix 4 in just 14 µs. (From $30 ea/10,000 — samples available now.)
