The Sidecar SATA II RAID external storage system includes a four-bay chassis, a low-profile 9650SE PCI Express controller card, high-speed cabling, and software. Users add any SATA disk drives, creating a system that is four times faster than an eSATA and up to 28 times faster then USB systems.
The unit has true hardware RAID protection: RAID levels 0, 1, 5, 10 and JBOD. The disk drives are hot swappable, and an optional onboard battery backup provides up to 72 hours of data protection during power failure. Software is compatible with Mac G5, Windows XP, and Linux.
