Bourns, Inc. has launched a new POWrFuse high-power fuse model series. The POWrFuse Model PF-K Series meets ISO 8820-8 standards for the protection of high-voltage accessory circuits in electric vehicles (EVs) and hybrid electric vehicles (HEVs). These circuits are used in a variety of EV/HEV applications including electrical energy storage (ESS), battery disconnect units (BDUs), and battery management systems (BMS), said Bourns.
The high-voltage EV fuses can operate up to 500 VDC and feature a 20 kA at 500 VDC interrupting rating. They offer current ratings from 15 A to 50 A (15, 30, 40, and 50 A, depending on the part number) and an extended temperature range of -55°C to 125°C. They are available in bolt and PCB mounting options.
The latest POWrFuse EV fuses have been tested to Bourns’ internal automotive quality standards for environmental reliability, transient current cycling, and device electrical and fusing characteristics.
The POWrFuse Model PF-K Series models are available now. They are RoHS compliant and halogen free.
Bourns also recently expanded the POWrFuse family with five new series of high-power fuses that protect a range of home appliance and industrial applications. These include the PF-F, PF-M, PF-G, PF-J, and PF-H (Ind) series.
