High power LEDs double light output, reduce cost

The Extreme High Power (XHP) LEDs are a new class of LEDs that can reduce system costs by up to 40% in most lighting applications. The first available family member is the XLamp XHP50 LED, delivering up to 2,250 lm at 19 W from a 5.0 x 5.0-mm package. At its maximum current, the XHP50 provides twice the light output of the industry’s brightest single-die LED, the XLamp XM-L2 LED, at a similar lm/W and without increasing the package footprint.

The LED maintains L90 lifetimes for >50,000 hours even at high temperature and current. The SC5 Technology Platform is built on a silicon carbide technology and features advancements in epitaxial structure, chip architecture and light conversion. The platform achieves better lumen density and longer lifetime at higher operating temperatures than previous LED technology. Visit www.cree.com/SC5 for more information.
