High-side power switches target automotive

Diodes Inc. expands its IntelliFET self-protected MOSFET family with the first automotive-compliant, dual-channel, high-side power switches.

Diodes Inc. has expanded its IntelliFET self-protected MOSFET portfolio with the  first automotive-compliant, dual-channel, high-side power switches. The new ZXMS82090S14PQZXMS82120S14PQ and ZXMS82180S14PQ intelligent switches feature high power in a compact footprint. Offering robust protection and diagnostic capabilities, the series is designed for driving 12-V automotive loads, such as LEDs, bulbs, actuators and motors in automotive body control and lighting systems.

All three devices feature a dual 41-V-rated n-channel MOSFET array with integrated circuitry that protects against short circuits and overvoltage conditions including load dumps as well as manages inrush currents. The switches also provide overtemperature protection with auto-restart and protection against electrostatic discharge (ESD) damage. By adding a few external components, loss of ground and reverse polarity protection can be implemented, the company said.

The devices also feature a dedicated current sense pin for precise analog current monitoring of the outputs and fault indication for short-to-battery, short-to-ground and open-load detection. They offer smaller footprint alternatives to relays, fuses and discrete circuits and are form, fit and functional equivalents for existing power switch devices.

The ZXMS82090S14PQ, ZXMS82120S14PQ and ZXMS82180S14PQ are qualified to AEC-Q100, manufactured in IATF 16949 certified facilities and support PPAP documentation. Housed in the thermally-efficient SO-14EP package, they are priced at $1.37 in quantities of 2,500.
