Devices combine isolator and 4-A driver to help reduce PCB real estate
The Si823x ISOdriver highly integrated gate drivers are suitable for power supplies, motor control, and lighting systems. The ISOdriver family incorporates a two-channel isolator and dual driver in a single chip while improving power efficiency.
Based on proprietary RF isolator technology and advanced CMOS gate driver design, the family of drivers offer high reliability, noise immunity, and 50% PCB area reduction compared to competing approaches. By integrating the isolator and driver into a single chip, the ISOdriver external BOM is reduced to three capacitors and a diode, allowing an isolated high-side/low-side or dual low-side driver solution that occupies only 200 mm2 .
An isolated high-side low-side 4-A driver, the device delivers improved MOSFET turn-on and turn-off times over other designs. It prevents high-side and low-side MOSFETs from being on at the same time and has propagation delay times of 50 nsmax. The ISOdriver devices are designed in CMOS and do not suffer from the performance drift over time and temperature that happen in optocoupler-based solutions. The driver family features programmable dead-time, programmable under-voltage lock-out circuitry on both the input and output sides of the isolated driver.
