Hot-swap controller monitors systems

Suiting 0 to 16-V backplanes, the MAX5961 quad hot-swap controller integrates a 10-bit ADC that is multiplexed to enable voltage and current monitoring on each channel for high-availability systems. The device also features an internal circular buffer that stores 5 ms of past voltage and current measurements. It targets networking, base-station, storage, computer, and server line cards.

The controller withstands transients or inductive spikes up to 30 V. It provides controlled inrush current at startup, as well as two levels of overcurrent protection after startup. It is available in a 7 x 7-mm, 48-pin TQFN package. (From $6.38 ea/1,000 — available now.)
