I/Q mixer suits 10 to 16-GHz microwave apps

The HMC775LC5 GaAs MMIC I/Q mixer is suited for use as either an image-reject mixer or as a single-sideband upconverter in point-to-point and point-to-multipoint microwave radio, military and space, and VSAT applications from 10 to 16 GHz. The part provides an LO amplifier that uses two standard double-balanced mixer cells and a 90° hybrid. This mixer exhibits up to 25-dBm input IP3, and an IF bandwidth spanning dc to 3.5 GHz.

Features include an LO-to-RF isolation of 45 dB, an image rejection of 25 dB, and a conversion loss of 8 dB when operating with LO drive levels of 0 dB. Specified for operation from –40° to 85°C, the part is housed in a RoHS-compliant leadless 5 x 5-mm ceramic SMT package and requires only 114 mA from a 5-V dc bias supply.
