The Avastar 88W8897 802.11ac mobile MIMO 2 x 2 combination radio chip combines three technologies – advanced WiFi, near field communications (NFC), and Bluetooth 4.0. The dual-band (2.4/5 GHz) 802.11ac radio features multiple input multiple output (MIMO), transmit beamforming, and support for WI-FI CERTIFIED Miracast once it becomes available.
The device includes advanced power management features and a high level of integration that cuts total BOM cost. The chips MIMO spatial stream multiplexing provides data rates up to MCS9 (866.7 Mbps) and the 4.1 + High Speed Bluetooth module supports Low Energy (LE) functions.
