IC offers 12-V hot-swap control

The ACS761 integrated Hall-effect current sensor has an integrated charge pump, gate driver, and multiple levels of load fault protection. It provides 12-V hot-swap control and short-circuit protection in a single IC without needing an external shunt resistor. The resistance of the internal current conductor is 1.5 mΩ typ. It has a 40-A fixed overcurrent fault threshold and a power-good pin.

The device incorporates power fault with user-selectable delay, an overcurrent fault threshold with user-selectable delay, and short-circuit protection to disables the gate of an external pass FET in less than 2 µs. It suits server applications. ($1.98 ea/100,000 available now.)
