ICs combine Atom E600 CPU with FPGA

The Atom E625C, E645C, and E665C 32-bit embedded processors feature a E600 core coupled with an Atera FPGA chip. The user-programmable FPGA provides 3-Gbit/s transceivers, LVDS with SerDes, memory interface, DSP blocks, and more than 60,000 logic elements. The FPGA has a hard IP PCIe lane that connects directly to the CPU.

The device comes in a 37.5-mm2 package and is available in industrial and commercial temperature ranges. The 600-MHz, 1-GHz, and 1.3-GHz processors include a 512-Kbyte L2 cache, a 2D/3D graphics processor, a DDR2 memory controller, an HD audio controller, and Hyper-Threading technology. The devices need only 2.7 to 3.6 W and have extended lifecycle support. ($61 to $106 ea/1,000 — available 1st qtr 2011.)
