IF VGA improves signal integrity

The LT5554 broadband digitally programmable gain IF amplifier, features a 48-dBm OIP3 (output 3rd order intercept) at 200 MHz. Its gain is digitally controlled from 2 to 18 dB by a 7-bit parallel word, with 0.125-dB gain-control-step granularity.

The amplifier settles in less than 5 ns from a gain change. Additional features include a 5-V supply, a nominal supply current of 200 mA, and a typical supply current of 4 mA when in shutdown. Housed in a 32-lead plastic QFN package, the part has a noise figure of 10-dB at maximum gain and a gain accuracy of ±0.1 dB from –40° to 85°C. (From $4.40 ea/1,000 — availaable now.)
