Image of the Day: A lamp specially designed to work — and look — like a circuit diagram

Device created by Odd Matter Studio references circuit diagrams in its design

Anyone with a background / education in some field of electronic technology has at one point or another drawn a circuit diagram. If you fall into this category, then you’ll certainly appreciate this new offering from the folks at Odd Matter Studio — referred to as “Node”, the image above and gif below is a lamp specially designed to mimic line-drawn circuit diagrams.

The lamp uses loops of copper to represent the wire in a circuit diagram. To switch it on, the user needs to twist its arm; doing so closes the loop and thereby aligns the circuit similar to how one would draw in an actual circuit diagram, symbols and all.

Per the latter point, the designers of the lamp made it a point to design the domed lamp shades like the circled bulb symbol within a circuit diagram.

The Studio built a few other prototypes worth sharing:

No word on if these will actually go into production.
