No matter how many different ways to recycle all of that stuff in your attic you come up with, you will probably never be as creative as He Liangcai, a Chinese farmer, who turned his old suitcases into environmentally-safe electric scooters:
The inexpensive scooter, which took ten years to develop, is capable of carrying two people—and your luggage, because the thing actually still does work as a regular old suitcase—at 12.5 miles an hour. It’s capable of doing up to 37 miles in one single electrical charge, and even comes with its own navigational system. Oh, and it also comes equipped with a burglar alarm.
He Liangcai provided a demonstration of his scooter’s capabilities at the Changsha train station in Central China’s Hunan province, where he rode the suitcase scooter from the station back to his home. The invention was more than capable of making the trip, and could possibly be used as a fun alternative to bicycles.
The battery-powered scooters would certainly be a sound environmental choice, though they might not get you where you want to go as fast as a traditional vehicle. Be honest, you want one.
