Stop me if you’ve heard this story before — a mobile device recently exploded and burst into flames.
In what’s becoming a bulletin all too familiar for our readers, another mobile device has grabbed the headlines of the tech world following another random, but thoroughly intense, explosion.
This time around, the too-hot-to-handle gadget was an Apple iPad tablet (pictured at the top). Its victim: a VODAFONE store in Canberra, Australia.
As the story goes, the demo model was sitting stationery when it suddenly began spewing out smoke and sparks.
Despite attempts to douse the electrical calamity, the store needed to be evacuated and the fire department had to come in and take control of the situation. Fortunately, no staff members or customers were hurt during the incident.
According to news.com.au, an Apple representative swung by the store last week to pick up the dilapidated device for testing to see what caused the malfunction.
Apple, meanwhile, has refused to respond any requests for comments.
