LG unveiled the above photographed double-sided TV at this year’s IFA show. In total, the two-sided display measures 111 inches, and is made of three 65-inch Ultra HD OLED displays, all for the purpose of allowing two viewers to watch two different sides of the television at the same time.
Additionally, the company showed off a 55-inch version of the double-sided TV, which comes with the additional selling point of just 5.3 millimeters thickness.
Before you begin rummaging through your wallet for a credit card, it should be noted that both TVs are just prototypes right now, designed to show off what LG can do with OLED technology, and what the future of displays could look like.
“Without backlight and other auxiliary layers, the OLED display is fundamentally less complicated compared to LCD, and in time less costly to manufacture,” said Dr. Ching W. Tang, considered by most to be one of the pioneers of OLED technology, during LG's keynote presentation.
“I have no doubt, given its advanced features and superior performance – foldable, wearable, flexible and transparent, OLED is the display technology for the next generation,” he added.
