David Whale, an embedded software engineer, took on the task of creating a giant screen that would display racing information for students that participate in electric car races conducted by the Greenpower Education Trust.
The Greenpower Education Trust is an organization dedicated to increasing children’s knowledge in technology areas such as sustainable energy.
The company hosts a series of events where students can build their own electric cars and race in a four hour marathon. The company needed a good display to present the information of the 96 racers. Since most of the cars run on Raspberry Pi, what better than a Raspberry Pi display?
Cue David Whale. He received a letter requesting his help in conjuring up a Pi of this size.
Visit Whale’s blog where he gives a step-by-step recap of how he built the enormous display from the ground-up including networking, data, platform, and processing aspects.
