Industry’s first 14-bit ADCs support JESD204B serial outputs
The single-channel ISLA214S50 and dual-channel ISLA224S20/25 series represent the first 14-bit ADCs with JESD204B serial outputs. The integrated JESD204B-compatible transmitter offers data rates up to 4.375 Gbits/s per lane, requiring only two lanes to support either the dual-channel 14-bit 250-Msample/s converter (one lane per channel) or the single-channel 14-bit 500-Msample/s device.
An optional third lane is included in the transmitter to support the maximum sampling rate while operating the serial lanes at less than 3.125 Gbits/s, providing backward compatibility with the JESD204A standard to support lower-cost FPGAs. Power consumption for the ISLA224S25 is just 980 mW at 250 Msamples/s, compared with 1,000 mW or higher among competitive serial devices with lower sample rates. For the ISLA214S50, power consumption is just 1,050 mW compared with 2,500 mW for competing products.
For an input frequency of 105 MHz, the ISLA224S25 offers SNR of 72.9 dBFS, while the ISLA214S50 provides 72.9 dBFS (nearly 3dB higher than its nearest competitor). The JESD204 transmitter also provides deterministic latency and multichip time alignment support. The ADCs come in 48-pin QFN packages. (Ea/1,000:
