For designers who want to protect and organize the hot new products they're developing, the patent-pending Board-ganizer BG-32618 enclosure from Bud Industries provides a simple, creative solution – and does so for a mere $16 per kit. Essentially, the kit lets engineers work on a design by spreading it out on four smoke-colored ABS panels and, when they want to transport or store it, they can fold the panels together into a compact, 5 x5 x 3.7-in. box, adding a top and bottom to make a secure, transparent enclosure (see video). It's also a neat way to demo a developing design to those who may be potential customers or underwriters.
Popular embedded development boards – including the Raspberry Pi, Arduino, and Freescale Freedom – attach to the 3.66 x 5.02-in. panels by means of the adhesive rubber feet included in the kit; up to three development boards and a breadboard may be installed in a single enclosure. The enclosure's hinged design lets users fold the enclosure without disconnecting any of the design's wires.
Available from stock, the enclosure kit includes 4 side panels, 2 snap-in top panels, and 4 pins for interconnecting the side panels, as well as 20 adhesive rubber feet. A jump-wire bundle and 600- and 300-tie-point solderless breadboards are available as optional accessories.
