Infineon Technologies AG has introduced its new StrongIRFET 2 30-V power MOSFET portfolio to meet the growing demand for 30-V solutions in the mass market segment. The power MOSFETs deliver design flexibility and address a wide range of applications such as industrial switched-mode power supplies (SMPS), motor drives, battery-powered applications, battery management systems, uninterruptible power supplies (UPS), power tools adapters and light electric vehicles.
The demand for battery-operated devices and chargers is driving the need for improvements in power efficiency and robustness, while requiring a reliable supply and competitive pricing, Infineon said.
The new 30-V portfolio is optimized for low and high switching frequencies and offers up to a 40 percent RDS(on) improvement and up to a 60 percent reduction in Qg compared to previous StrongIRFET devices. Increased current ratings deliver a higher current carrying capability, eliminating the need to parallel multiple devices.
The result is higher power efficiency for improved system performance, lower BOM costs and board savings, Infineon said.
These new power MOSFETs will be available in a variety of packages, starting with the TO-220 that is currently available. By year end, the power MOSFETs will be offered in a wider range of industry-standard packages and pin-out options, including the TO-220 FullPAK, DPAK, D²PAK, PQFN and SuperSO8.
Infineon’s StrongIRFET 2 power MOSFETs are also available in 80-V and 100-V devices as well as 40-V and 60-V families.
