Infrared emitters and detectors use SMT
Part of the company's MicroLED series of LED devices, 597 Series
surface-mountable LED detectors and emitters offer the option of top view
or right angle view. Combining an emitter and detector allows the
construction of a surface mount, infrared sensor. The emitter is
available in 940- (GaAs), 880- (GaAlAs), and 700-nm versions, with power
requirements ranging from 1.3 to 9.2 mW, depending on drive current. The
top-view version has a viewing angle of 180 degrees. The detectors include
phototransistors with VCE ratings of either 30 or 75 V and
photosensitivities in the range of 400 to 1,070 nm. The top-view device is
available on 8-mm tape on 7-in. reels, and the right-angle device in 12-mm
tape on 13-in. reels. (Top view, $0.33; right angle, $0.62 ea/1,000–stock
