Int-N PLL/synthesizer suppresses system noise

Int-N PLL/synthesizer suppresses system noise

The LTC6945 6-GHz integer-N PLL/synthesizer features –226dBc/Hz normalized closed-loop in-band phase noise, –274-dBc/Hz normalized in-band 1/f noise, –157-dBc/Hz wideband phase noise floor, and –102-dBc spurious output. In a typical 900-MHz application, these performance attributes enable a closed-loop phase noise of –100 dBc/Hz at 1-kHz offset.

The part comprises a low-noise reference buffer, a reference divider, a phase-frequency detector with phase-locked indicator, an ultralow noise programmable charge pump and an integer feedback divider to attain very low noise PLL operation.Additional features include an SPI compatible serial port control, a charge pump current from 250 µA to 11.2 mA, and a charge pump supply from 3.15 to 5.25 V.

Also the PLLWizard comprehensive PC-based design tool software is available to facilitate interactive control and to interface with the LTC6945’s evaluation board. Temperature range is from –40° to 105°C and housing is in a 4 x 5-mm 28-lead plastic QFN package.(From $4.95 ea/1,000 — available now.)
