Analog Devices Inc. (ADI) has released a 16-bit, 15 MSPS data acquisition solution for digitizing fast transient signals in power analysis applications. The new ADAQ23875, part of ADI’s precision signal chain µModule family, incorporates the signal conditioning circuity associated with scaling the signal from the sensor and enables a 4× footprint reduction versus a discrete equivalent solution.
This size reduction is achieved by integrating multiple signal and conditioning blocks, including a low noise, fully differential analog-to-digital converter (ADC) driver (FDA), a stable reference buffer, and a high speed, 16-bit, 15 MSPS successive approximation register (SAR) ADC.
The ADAQ23875, housed in a 9 × 9 mm CSP BGA package, also enables low latency digital control loop in hardware in the loop (HiL) applications or source measurement unit applications. The µModule device is designed to reduce the development cycle of precision, high-speed measurement systems by moving the component selection, optimization, and layout from the designer to the device, said ADI.
By incorporating more of the signal chain in a package, the ADAQ23875 enables high repeatability of system level performance over the lifetime of the system in manufacturing, which reduces the OEM’s total cost of ownership, added the company.
The ADAQ23875 features a serial low voltage differential signaling (LVDS) digital interface with one-lane or two-lane output modes, allowing the user to optimize the interface data rate for each application. Other features include a wide common mode input range (-1 V to +4 V) with a high CMRR of 96 dB and an operating temperature range from −40°C to 85°C.
The ADAQ2387x family is available in 16-bit and 18-bit resolution with different input ranges. Available now in samples and production volume, the ADAQ23875 (16-bit, 1) is priced at $27.55 each in quantities of 1,000. Sampling now with production following in August 2021, the ADAQ23876 (16-bit, 4) is priced at $32.55 each in quantities of 1,000. The ADAQ23878 (18-bit ,4) is sampling now with production following in September 2021 and is priced at $39.55 each in quantities of 1,000.
