A line of Serial Attached SCSI (SAS) interconnects includes a 29-position vertical through-hole receptacle, a 29-position hybrid receptacle, and a 22-position host receptacle designed without a secondary signal port to eliminate unnecessary or unused contacts. Connectors with 29 positions combine signal and power capability and have data transfer rates of up to 3.0 Gbits/s in full duplex mode.
The SAS connectors are designed on a 1.27-mm in-line contact pitch and is backward compatible to existing SCSI. Because the signal transmission is serialized through two differential pairs, the overall connector size is much smaller compared to previous SCSI connectors.
