Delta Electronics, the four-and-a-half-decade-old power electronics and energy manufacturer founded by Bruce C.H. Cheng, has announced a new series of AC/DC converters that can serve several different applications, including commercial, household, IT, and medical.
Specific to the latter application, the MDS Series of AC/DC converters can even be used for Type BF medical products.
The reason why this new series is so versatile has to do with its new design. For one, these AC/DC converters come with output power levels of 250 watts and 300 watts. Throw in operating parameters of 90VAC to 264VAC universal input voltage, temperatures of -10°C to 70°C, and altitudes of up to 16,400 feet, and one can only imagine all of the many different medical and non-medical applications to which these high energy density power supply components can be applied.
Other features worth pointing out: input surge of 300 VAC, low leakage current, low no-load input power, high MTBF, and a standard 3” x 5” footprint with height suitable for 1U applications.
An enhanced set is available — included as part of the standard product is a 5-volt / 0.5-amp standby output, remote on/off, remote sense, and a power good signal.
In terms of certifications, Delta’s MDS Series of AC/DC converters are for EMC standards EN 55011 for industrial, scientific, and medical (ISM) radio-frequency equipment, and EN55022 for Industrial Technology Equipment (ITE) radio-frequency equipment. Additionally, the designs have protection against shock compliant 2XMOPP and Type BF requirements, have medical and ITE safety approvals (including cURus – US and Canada—TUV/GB (China), as well as CB certificates with all national deviations; they are also in full compliance with RoHS Directive 2011/65/EU for environmental protection.
Features Summary:
• High energy density in 1 U form factor
• Universal input voltage 90 VAC to 264 VAC
• Class B EMI
• IT and medical safety approvals
• Suited for Type BF medical products
• 3-year warranty
