Inverter for two full-size LCD panels features alarm output
Low-profile device controls brightness for 10 to 15-in. industrial displays
The LS6D0812A-RH low-profile dc/ac inverter drives cold-cathode fluorescent lamps (CCFL) in two-LCD-backlighting applications. The high-efficiency inverter is designed specifically for 10 to 15-in. industrial-grade LCD panels used in applications such as medical electronics, machine tools, digital signage, point-of-sale / kiosks, touchscreen, and test & measurement equipment. The device provides dual LCD panel capability, and features brightness / backlight on-off control and a 5-V typ alarm output if the inverter detects a CCFL open condition in LCD systems.
The RoHS-compliant inverter LCD backlight driver provides an input of 12 Vdc and an output current of 3 to 6 mArms per lamp. The device’s CCFL driving circuit includes a self-oscillating dc-to-ac converter, known as a Royer circuit, which minimizes EMI. Total device power output is 3.5 W per lamp, or 7 W total. It measures 6.02 x 0.85 x 0.39 in. Other specifications include 1,500-Vrms startup voltage, 1-A max input current, and operating and storage temperature ranges of -20 to 70C and -30 to 85C, respectively.
