IPC Issues Call for Participation for Electronics Assembly Conference in Budapest

BANNOCKBURN, Ill, USA, July 14, 2010 —To assist international electronics assembly suppliers in reaching the rapidly growing Central and Eastern European electronics market, IPC — Association Connecting Electronics Industries will host the IPC Electronics Assembly Quality & Reliability Conference and table top exhibition. The event, supported by the National Electronics Society of Hungary, will be held 6–7 October 2010, in Budapest, Hungary. IPC invites industry leaders to increase their companies’ visibility in this pivotal region by participating in this inaugural conference.

According to Reed Electronics Research, “A key trend in recent years has been the migration in electronics manufacturing services (EMS) production from Western Europe to Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) resulting in the CEE accounting for just under 55% of European EMS revenues in 2008. …The transfer of production from Western Europe will continue to be an important factor in the region’s growth in particular in lower volume high mix products.”

IPC President Denny McGuirk explains, “Budapest is an ideal place to hold an electronics assembly conference. Hungary is the largest electronics producer in the CEE region and electronics is the largest industry in the country. The list of companies in Hungary is a ‘who’s who’ of electronics manufacturing services companies, and many global OEMs also call Hungary their home.”

Global EMS firms in Hungary include: Foxconn, Jabil Circuit, Flextronics, Elcoteq, Sanmina-SCI and large Hungarian EMS companies Zollner and Videoton. Original equipment manufacturers (OEM) companies include Philips, Sony, Bosch, Ericsson, Continental and Siemens. EMS revenues are expected to grow in Hungary to 6.3 billion euros by 2013.

The conference will emphasize technical exchange on new products and research. To maximize event interest and attendance, qualified engineers and managers from electronics manufacturing companies will be invited to attend at no charge. To support the event, IPC is seeking supplier partners for table top exhibits and noncom¬mercial technical presentations on electronics assembly quality and reliability.

Gold sponsors will each be invited to make a conference presentation of 45 minutes in length and will receive sponsorship benefits including table top exhibit space, two free registrations and promotional opportunities. Presentations must be noncommercial in nature, focusing on technology rather than on a company’s product. All presen¬tations will be conducted in English. Presenters may provide materials in English and/or Hungarian. Silver sponsorships include table top exhibit space, one complimentary registration and promotional opportunities.
