Ironwood CBT-BGA-6062 BGA socket

292-pin BGA Socket withstands extreme temperature with exceptional electrical performance

Addressing high-performance requirements for microcontrollers, the clamshell-lid CBT-BGA-6062 BGA socket with integrated compression mechanism employs contactors that have only 0.88-nH self-inductance, <1-dB insertion loss at 15.7 GHz, and <30-mΩ contact resistance. Each contactor is a stamped spring pin with 31-g actuation force per ball and a cycle life of 125,000 insertions.

The contactor’s current capacity is 4 A at a 60°C temperature rise, and the socket temperature range is −55°C to 180°C. The socket also features a floating guide for precise ball-to-pin alignment, and is designed specifically for 17 x 17-mm BGA devices with a 292-position, 20 x 20, 0.8-mm-pitch ball array. The socket is mounted using supplied hardware on the target PCB with no soldering, and has a small footprint to accommodate nearby passive components. The socket uses a five-post stiffener plate to support the back side of its PCB and allows passive components to be placed between posts. In single quantities, the socket is priced at $927.
