The 48525 and 48530 smart-battery isolators prevent loads on the auxiliary battery from draining the starting battery. They are not specific to an alternator type and are said to generate less heat than competitive products. The isolators reduce charging system workload by not connecting to the auxiliary battery until the primary battery is charged to 13.2 V. They are available in 85- and 200-A versions.
The devices prevent diode efficiency losses and allow bidirectional charging from alternators or from other power chargers/converters. They feature an LED status indicator and operational start assist. (Contact 617-268-2100 for price and availability.)
