Featuring up to 40-Gbit/s application recognition and protocol analysis performance, the NITROX DPI II family of L7 content processors is said to be industry's first standalone, “bump-in-the-wire,” single-chip deep-packet inspection processor family to achieve this speed. The ICs are intended for enterprise, data center, 3G and 4G wireless, and service provider applications.

The processors can be used in both inline and coprocessor modes — with connection over their PCIe interface. They have up to four XAUI, eight SGMII, and two PCIe Gen 2 x4 ports, along with the advanced Hyper Finite Automata Thread Engine (HTE) deep-packet inspection engine, and TurboDPI software. The chip features comprehensive Perl-compatible regular expression (PCRE) and POSIX Regex syntax support including support for capture groups, back references and, assertions. (Less than $200 ea/10,000 — sampling starting in March.)
