Laser diodes enable fiber-to-the-home
To aid in the realization of fiber-to-the-home, the HL1352MF and HL1326MF
laser diodes have an operating temperature range of -40 ° to
85 °C without the need for temperature controllers. The emitted
light has a wavelength of 1.3 μm. The HL1352MF is a distributed
feedback laser while the HL1326MF is a Fabry-Perot type. Both devices have
an output power of 10 mW at 25 °C. Both also use an MQW structure.
The slope efficiencies for the devices are 0.25 and 0.30 mW/mA,
respectively, at 25 °C. The lasers have beam divergences of
30 ° parallel and 40 ° perpendicular. (HL1352MF, $1,500;
HL1326MF, $280 ea/100–available now.) Hitachi America, Ltd.
