AMD has expanded its 3rd Gen AMD Ryzen desktop processor family with the launch of the AMD Ryzen 3 3100 and AMD Ryzen 3 3300X processors, together with the AMD B550 chipset for Socket AM4. The new Ryzen 3 processors feature the “Zen 2” core architecture, leveraging simultaneous multi-threading (SMT) technology for increased productivity.
The new processors along with the AMD B5550 chipset deliver double the threads, twice the bandwidth, and a wide selection of motherboards in development, boosting performance for business users, gamers, and creators.
The Ryzen 3 3100 and Ryzen 3 3300X are AMD’s fastest Ryzen 3 desktop processors. With four cores, eight threads, and AMD SMT technology, tests at AMD’s performance labs indicate that new Ryzen 3 3100 provides higher performance compared to the competition — up to 20% for gaming and up to 75% for creator applications.
In addition, with an 18-MB cache, the processors offer significant memory latency reduction for a smoother and faster gaming performance for high frame rates in CPU-heavy games, said AMD.
The AMD Ryzen 3 3100 and AMD Ryzen 3 3300X will be available from retailers and e-tailers worldwide starting on May 21, 2020. AMD B550 motherboards will be available beginning June 16, 2020, from AMD’s ODM partners including ASRock, ASUS, Biostar, Colorful, GIGABYTE, and MSI at retailers and e-tailers. The upcoming B550 motherboards are the only mainstream modern chipset with compatibility for PCIe 4.0, according to AMD.
