LDMOS RF amps boost ruggedness, gain, and stability

The AFT05MS031N, AFT09MS031N and AFT05MP075N Airfast LDMOS power amplifiers are suitable for use in mobile VHF and UHF transceivers used in public safety, professional mobile radio and other harsh machine-to-machine communications environments. These parts are designed to survive greater than 65:1 VSWR even with simultaneous over voltage and overdrive stressing the amplifier and its RF power transistors. Engineered for 12-V nominal mobile operation, the Airfast devices are designed to remain stable while delivering rated performance over their operating frequency ranges.

Stability testing is conducted using multiple voltages, drive levels and temperatures into a VSWR of 3:1. The AFT05MS031N features 136 to 520 MHz frequency and greater than 31-W output power. The AFT09MS031N offers a 764 to 941-MHz range and 31 W output power. The AFT05MP075N offers 136 to 520 MHz range and 75-W output power.All parts have integrated ESD protection.

The Airfast devices ship with comprehensive reference designs and require only a few inductors and capacitors to complete the design.
