LeCroy Introduces WavePro 7 Zi Series Oscilloscopes Integrating Deep Toolbox with 10 to 20 Times Faster Throughput for Breakthrough Performance
Chestnut Ridge, NY, July 1, 2008 – LeCroy Corporation’s new line of WavePro digital oscilloscopes, Serial Data Analyzers, and Disk Drive Analyzers—the 7 Zi Series—integrates performance, speed, and a user interface optimized for analysis to enhance the design, debug and validation process beyond any other instrument in the 1.5 GHz to 6 GHz bandwidth range. A superior feature finder, a new rare event capture technology, and the deepest toolbox with the greatest horsepower combine for powerful debug capability. Exceptional responsiveness and 10–20 times faster processing throughput lead to more efficient validation. A new form-factor and the largest display available on any oscilloscope make finding root cause easier. The breakthrough performance of the WavePro 7 Zi Series provides engineers with deeper insight into electronic design problems than possible before.
The WavePro 7 Zi’s industrial design incorporates an industry-first 15.3 inch, 16:9 high-definition display equipped with a touch screen. Equipped with the industry’s most extensive toolbox, the new scope solves electronic design problems for serial data, embedded, automotive and general-purpose applications within minutes instead of hours. In addition, TriggerScan and WaveScan, special modes for finding rare events and correlating what caused the problem, shorten the time to debug a new design. The toolbox can be extended to an integrated second display in order to expand the oscilloscope’s workspace. The WavePro 7 Zi’s removable front panel allows engineers to place the controls next to the circuit under test. LeCroy’s new serial interface bus, LSIB, enables data transfer to a computer at rates up to 500 Mpts/s, which is 25 to 100 times faster than any other method.
Fast Throughput with X-Stream II Streaming Architecture
Designed for long memory operation and responsiveness X-Stream II technology enables high throughput of data—even when the oscilloscope is analyzing eight 128 Mpt waveforms. This architecture uses variable waveform segment lengths to improve CPU cache memory efficiency resulting in 10 to 20 times faster processing compared to other oscilloscopes. This eliminates the trade-offs between long memory length and quick processing. WavePro 7 Zi’s proprietary architecture design is augmented with an Intel®Core™2 Quad processor, high-speed serial databuses, a 64-bit OS and up to 8 GB of RAM.
Engineered to Perform
The WavePro 7 Zi Series is the only oscilloscope with both 1 MΩ inputs for general purpose use and 50 ? inputs for 1.5 GHz to 6 GHz signals. Combined with a high sample rate of 20 GS/s on all 4 channels and 40 GS/s interleaved; a long record length (10 Mpts/ch standard and up to 128 Mpts/ch and 256 Mpts interleaved optional); and a wide variety of probes, options, and accessories, the WavePro 7 Zi is the best and most complete debug solution available. Debugging circuits requires multiple modes of triggering. With over 12 different SMART triggers,
TriggerScan Accumulates More Anomalies/Second
TriggerScan rare event capture technology detects and captures more anomalies per second. TriggerScan uses high-speed hardware to detect undesired behaviors, then captures and displays them in a persistence mode for additional analysis of glitches, runts, and timing anomalies. A built in trainer identifies normal signal behavior and then constructs a large set of rare event trigger setups that target abnormal behavior. TriggerScan captures only the signals of interest and provides answers in minutes instead of hours.
More Flexible and More Powerful Tools
The WavePro 7 Zi Series offers as standard more measure, math, graphing, statistical, frequency analysis, mask testing, and other tools, as well as more ways to leverage the tools to get answers faster. A new option WPZi- SPECTRUM provides spectral analysis capability to measure power density, real, imaginary, and magnitude FFT types that emulate the operation of a spectrum analyzer. A table shows the peak spectra and levels for easy review. Parameter Math gives the fastest and most accurate calculations in an oscilloscope: 750,000 measurements per second. Parameters can be added, subtracted, multiplied or divided by any two standard or custom parameters. Eight Math/Zoom functions provide chained math on math operations. Only LeCroy completely integrates third party programs into the oscilloscope’s processing stream by allowing you to create and deploy a new measurement or math algorithm directly into the oscilloscope environment and display the result on the oscilloscope in real-time.
Serial Data Analyzers
SDA 7 Zi Serial Data Analyzers are based on the WavePro 7 Zi Series oscilloscope and are equipped with double the standard memory to capture more unit intervals in the eye diagram. They include an enhanced high-speed serial pattern trigger that operates on up to 80 bit patterns and at speeds up to 2.7 Gb/s. The X-Stream II architecture gives the fastest eye construction capturing 1.25 million unit intervals of PCI Express 2.5 Gb/s in 3 seconds. With the new Cable De-Embedding feature, cable distortion effects are removed to achieve more accurate timing and amplitude measurements on high-speed eye diagrams. These innovations, as well as the heralded four simultaneous views of eye diagram, time interval error, bathtub curve and jitter histogram, come standard in the new SDA 7 Zi analyzers. LeCroy Serial Data Analyzers are tuned for the debug and validation of new designs and the compliance testing of Ethernet, USB, PCI Express, Serial ATA, UWB and HDMI.
Disk Drive Analyzers
Based on the WavePro 7 Zi Series models, the DDA 7 Zi Series Disk Drive Analyzers are available in 3.5 and 6 GHz models and come equipped with 20 Mpts/ch acquisition memory. Dedicated disk drive measurements, trigger and zooming for failure analysis, and serial data measurement capability with a Disk Drive Analyzer user interface are also standard to address high capacity disk drive designs. Operate in either DDA or SDA mode to analyze the serial data links or the physical media behavior on a hard drive.
New Probe Modules Add Capability to WaveLink
LeCroy has added four new high performance probes to the very popular WaveLink probe family. The new amplifiers boast excellent noise performance that is essential for making precise jitter and other signal integrity measurements. The high DC and midband impedance make them ideal for many serial data and memory applications such as PCIExpress, Firewire, and DDR. With ±4 volt differential offset control capability and ±3 volt common mode range, the WaveLink probes are designed for multi-purpose applications for single ended needs (such as DDR memory) and serial data applications (such as HDMI).
