The AAT1409/7/5 family of multistring LED backlight drivers can drive up to 88/66/44 LEDs at 360/180/120-mA total LED current, respectively, These drivers are applicable to LCD screens ranging in size from 10 to 22 in. The integrated boost converter and precision current sinks operate from dc inputs, cigarette lighter adapters, or multicell Li-ion batteries over the 4.5 to 26-V range.
Specifications include up to 92% efficiency over the wide input range, a PWM dimming frequency up to 100 kHz, a quiescent current of 1.5 µA typ, and a current accuracy and current matching between strings of ±2%. Housed in TQFN34-24 packages, the drivers also feature flexible configurations with disable or parallel channels, open/shorted LEDs enable fault tolerance, current limit protection, over-voltage protection and over-temperature protection, and soft-start to minimize inrush current.
