The DER-287 reference design that targets a 25-W LED T8 tube ballast power supply offers an efficiency of greater than 91% and meets commercial requirements for power factor (PF greater than 0.9) and harmonic distortion (EN61000-3-2 Class C). It is basically a single-stage converter built around the company’s LNK409EG LED driver IC.
Single-stage technology greatly increases product lifetime by eliminating the opto-isolators and large aluminum electrolytic input bulk capacitors required by conventional two-stage solutions. The reference design is specified for 180 to 265 Vac and 100 V and 250-mA output. (Contact company for pricing available now)
