LED driver adjusts overvoltage protection

Enabling single- or dual-LED operation in portable multimedia devices, the LM3553 high-current flash LED driver features adjustable overvoltage protection, allowing designers to drive two high-current LEDs in a series configuration. The driver also provides an I2 C-compatible interface to configure 128 brightness levels and 16 safety timer durations.

The LM3553 also features built-in time-out protection to protect the flash LEDs in case of an error condition. The voltage mode offers a 5-V rail for backlight LEDs and audio amplifiers. Housed in a 12-pin LLP package, the device includes internal soft-start and a GPIO pin. ($1.20 ea/1,000—available now.)
