LED driver integrates all needed circuitry

Containing all the circuitry, including the inductor, in a 9 x 15 x 4.32-mm LGA package, the LTM8040 dc/dc uModule LED driver can drive from 0 to 1 A through a string of LEDs with ±2% accuracy at full load current. The part can also convert an input voltage range of 4 to 36 V to a lower voltage ranging from 2.5 to 13 V.

The default switching frequency is 500 kHz, which can be adjusted with a resistor for up to 2-MHz operation. Additional features include less than 2-μA shutdown current, open LED and short-circuit protection, and both analog and True Color PWM dimming, allowing a 400:1 constant color dimming range.
