The MAX6948B WLED driver integrates a boost converter and five GPIO ports that can be used to drive LEDs (powered from an alternative power supply) in parallel. Capable of driving up to six LEDs in series, the boost converter allows PWM control of the boost voltage to maximize power efficiency. The I2 C-programmable 10-bit PWM signal enables 1,024 levels of WLED intensity, thus providing precise control over display brightness.
The device features 2-MHz switching and can supply up to 30 mA of load current under all conditions. The GPIO ports can function as extra logic ports or as constant-current sink drivers and are ESD protected up to ±8-kV HBM.
