Housed in a 16-pad TQFN package, the CAT3647 and CAT3648 quad-mode LED drivers provide 32-level LCD backlight programming in 3% step increments via a one-wire EZDim programming interface. Both parts are four-mode fractional charge pumps (1x, 1.33x,1.5x, 2x).
The fourth charge pump mode achieves 1.33x boost mode with only two flying capacitors. The CAT3647 drives three LEDs at 30 mA each, and the CAT3648 drives four LEDs at 25 mA each, both with power efficiency as high as 92%. ($0.68 ea/10,000—prod qty, 6 to 8 weeks ARO.)
