LED puts performance in headlights

Shown as a prototype at the International Symposium on Automotive Lighting in Germany in September 2011 ( www2.electronicproducts.com/-article-rurc_nov2011-html.aspx), the Oslon Black Flat LED LUW H9QP is now available. The high-performance light source for automotive front lighting systems offers high, uniform light output at high currents, thermal stability, and exceptional brightness.

LED puts performance in headlights

Using UX:3 chip technology, the 3.75 x 3.75-mm LED achieves a typical luminous flux of 200 lm with a 700-mA operating current, 2.3-W power draw, 25°C junction temperature, and 87 lm/W efficacy, But operating at 1.2 A, the LED can deliver up to 270 lm at a junction temperatures as high as 100°C. Able to generate 70 to 100 Mcd/m2 , the LED has a perceived brightness 2 to 5 times higher than comparable devices. Typical thermal resistance is 4 K/W, and the thermal coefficient of expansion of the LED’s black QFN package matches the CoE of metal core boards. Lifetime is more than 100,000 hours at 700 mA and 60°C Tsolder-point . (Contact Michael Martens for pricing and availability.)
