Lextar to roll out new miniLED backlight modules and displays

Lextar offers a new series of miniLED smart backlight modules that integrate miniLEDs and the driver IC for a high contrast and slim design

Lextar Electronics Corp. is releasing a new series of miniLED products into mass production, including the integrated I-Mini Blue smart backlight module, along with introducing a 0.7-mm pitch UFP I-Mini RGB display, and microLED technology.

The miniLED backlighting series can be used in a wide range of applications, including TVs, gaming monitors, laptops, automotive displays, and virtual reality (VR) devices. The I-Mini Blue backlight module integrates blue miniLEDs in flip-chip packaging, and a driver IC to achieve a high contrast, slim design, and competitive cost in a panel module assemblies. Incorporating local dimming technology of over a thousand zones, this K-zone backlight solution can precisely control the backlight, and achieve a dynamic contrast ratio of 1,000,000:1, said the company.

Lextar also introduced an active matrix (AM) miniLED backlight module that uses chip-on-glass (COG) technology. By transferring the blue miniLED chips on TFT glass panel, it is possible to achieve a local dimming of over 2,300 zones on a 2.9-inch panel.

Other new products include the UFP I-mini RGB module, which features high brightness, high contrast, sunlight readability, and a range of display sizes, and a mini RGB LED series with a choice packaging options. The mini RGB LED series is expected to be in mass production by the end of the year.
