LG has unveiled a new smartphone, the V10, with two front-facing cameras capable of taking wide-angled selfies.
Made from stainless steel instead of aluminum, the 6.8 ounce device has coating on the back and bottom of the display to prevent scratches while feeling soft to the touch.
The phone’s dual cameras have two separate lenses, each with a five megapixel sensor, allowing it to take 80-degree to 120-degree selfies with a single snap — it actually captures two pictures at once, which are then stitched together by an algorithm.
“The ability to take group selfies without a selfie-stick has never been easier,” LG said.
Designed to show useful tools such as battery life or current time, the V10 includes a second 2.1-inch 160-by-1,040-pixel display inset and above the main, which is a 5.7-inch QHD (1440p) display.
Its rear camera has 16 megapixels and a quick f/1.8 lens. Users can make use of the video mode’s manual controls that allow you to adjust ISO, shutter speed, frame rate, focus, and white balance while recording instead of just when snapping photos. You can record in either 16:9 or 21:9 aspect ratios, at up to 4K resolution, with the added benefit of digital image stabilization. There are also three on-board microphones and a wind noise filter that helps with outdoor video recording.
Running on the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop, the V10 has a microSD memory card slot that will work with cards up to 2TB. Its removable 3,000mAh battery can go from zero to 50 percent charge in just 40 minutes. Inside is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 processor, 4GB RAM, and 64GB of storage space.
Launching in Korea in November 2016, LG’s V10 is expected to land in the U.S. later this year.
