The LIC series of long life cylindrical lithium-ion capacitors are said to combine the high voltage and high energy of batteries with rapid charge/discharge and high durability of electric double layer capacitors (EDLC). They feature 4X the energy density of EDLCs and are available in four capacitances: 40, 100, 200, and 270 F.
The devices have a maximum voltage of 3.8 V, an operating temperature of -25º to 70ºC (85ºC at 3.5V), and a tolerance of ±20%. For the 200 F device (LIC2540R3R8207), DCR is 0.05 Ω, size is 25.0 x 40.0 mm, and cost is $33.81/ea 1,000.
