As many design engineers already know, surface-mount technology (SMT) represents the future of compact applications with space constraints. The technology also enables higher speed and yield in manufacturing processes.
The 470 from Littelfuse is the smallest 125VAC-rated SMT fuse with 1206 footprints; and Littelfuse’s 476 is the smallest 250VAC-rated SMT fuses with 2410 footprints, equating to more board space for designers. Not only are they compact, but these fuses are also suitable for high-temperature applications such as LED lighting. They can operate at extreme temperatures without any excessive sacrificing on current re-rating. The 470 and 476 fuses from Littelfuse can withstand AC power line surges and keep LED light bulbs working continuously.
These fuses are passing many tests within the industry, too. The 476 Series Fuse passed the IEC 61000-4-5 2 ed. Surge Immunity test surge immunity test (3A and above ampere rating only), and the 470 Series Fuse passed the EPA’s ENERGY STAR requirements, making them optimal choices for LED lighting applications.
Beyond LED lighting, applications for these fuses include LCD and LED TVs, notebooks and PCs, white goods, gaming consoles and power supply units. The 470 and 476 fuses are available in the highest number of amperage ratings at the rated voltages. They have been tested extensively to open safely at the specified interrupt ratings, especially at 86 VDC and 10 kA.
