Technology company Littelfuse has decided to extend its sponsored Speed2Design engineering contest beyond its original October 2nd deadline, due to winner notification and travel arrangement complications caused by the government shutdown. The contest’s prize of a trip to NASA, expected to begin just three weeks from now on October 24th, has also been delayed due to the shutdown.
Held annually with ten winner slots, the contest is an excellent way for up and coming engineers to see some of the most sophisticated technology in the world. The contest’s entry period will remain open, so aspiring engineers still have a chance to win Speed2Design’s prize of an extensive behind the scenes trip to NASA’s Johnson Space Center in Houston, Texas, where they will get to see all that NASA has to offer.

As it is currently impossible to contact NASA, and there is no telling when the government shutdown is going to end, the contest’s new deadline has become indefinite until further notice.
