Global leader in circuit protection Littelfuse Inc has just introduced the SE Series of Gas Discharge Tube (GDT) devices, complete in a miniature square EIA 1206 package that makes it the smallest GDT available on the market.
The ultra-low capacitance of the GDT’s design allows for high transmission speeds in broadband applications, rapid response to fast-rising transients, and enhance the protection of sensitive circuitry. Littelfuse’s new GDTs have excellent stability in multiple pulse duty cycles, allowing circuit designers to boost reliability in applications designed to protect against overvoltage surges.
The GDTs maintain a high resistance state under normal operating conditions, but in the event of a voltage surge, they discharge from open to short status. This allows them to provide overvoltage protection, and, once the fault is removed, they return to their normal high resistance state.
Littelfuse’s new GDTs are ideal for a wide variety of applications, such as security system components including satellite and CATV equipment, CCTV equipment, set-top boxes, analog video, and RS-485 and Ethernet applications. They are perfectly designed for applications that require a small footprint, a fast response to transcients, and low insertion loss, according to Stephen Li, the Global Product Manager for the line.
