Logic chipset has graphics accelerator
The WinChips chipset includes the previously announced Wingine windows
accelerator along with the two-chip CS4021 system logic set. It supports a
range of 32-bit x86 microprocessors from 386DX to 50-MHz 486DX2, including
the company's own Super38600 and Super 38605. Manufacturers can use a
single motherboard design with multiple sockets to make an upgradable
system. The chipset also allows user upgrade of secondary cache. A
true-color graphics accelerator, the 82C481, can be used with the Wingine
to add 16-, 24-, and 32-bits/pixel display capability. It uses VRAM and
offloads drawing function from the CPU. (WinChipset, 33 MHz, $49 ea/1,000;
Wingine alone, $18.00 ea/1,000; System logic alone $31.00 ea/1,000;
