Logic functions toggle at 13 GHz

Four logic devices support data rates to 13 Gbits/s with rise/fall times as low as 18 ps. The HMC720LC3C, HMC721LC3C, HMC722LC3C and HMC723LC3C 1:2 fanout buffer, XOR/XNOR gate, configurable AND/NAND/OR or NOR gate, and D-Type flip-flop operate from a single -3.3 V supply and come in 3 x 3-mm SMT ceramic packages.

The fanout buffer has differential inputs and outputs that are dc coupled and terminated on chip with 50-Ω resistors to ground. It has a propagation delay of 120 ps typ, jitter of 2 ps typ, and dissipates only 300 mW. Other functions may or may not have 50-Ω terminations and have ac- or dc-coupled I/Os.
