Low-cost ARBs tackle most-challenging apps

From 1-Mpoint/channel memory, optionally expandable to 16 Mpoints/channel, the units deliver 250 Msamples/s with 16-bit resolution, thus creating higher time-resolution and true point-by-point arbitrary waveforms that are alias protected. To provide flexible waveform generation, the generators permit 128-step Arb sequencing with 12-digit frequency/sample-rate control and flexible triggering. The units also have built-in pseudorandom-binary-sequence (PSRB) serial pattern generation, and advanced Arb editing software is due in the fourth quarter this year.

The instruments’ large graphical displays permit simultaneous parameter setup, signal viewing, and editing. Fully compliant with the LXI Class C Specification, the generators not only have a 10/100Base-T Ethernet port, but a USB 2.0 connect as well; a GPIB interface is offered as an option. A built-in Web page allows remote operation of the instrument from any browser.

The units come with a TCXO timebase, and an OCXO timebase is offered as an ultra-high-stability option. (One-channel, from $1,930; two-channel, from $2,950 — available now.)
